I Was Literally Throwing Away Pies

1 min read

A few days ago I was cleaning out the fridge and threw away an entire homemade sweet potato pie.

The funny part?

Just a week earlier I was so excited to make it.

That morning I'd been feeling overwhelmed. Work. Parenting. Life. My brain was running through all the usual stories..."I'm not doing enough."

"I should be further along."

Then I looked down at the pie.

And I realized...

If I'm fortunate enough to be throwing away homemade pie...

Life is probably pretty good.

Nothing about my circumstances had changed.

My kids were still healthy.

I still get to coach incredible people.

I have great friends.

The only thing that changed was my perspective.

That's why every morning I write down three things I'm grateful for.

Not because it magically solves my problems...

But because gratitude reminds me to notice everything that's already going right.

Have a smooth morning,

Marc ☕️
